Inspiration

After the invasion of ISIS, I felt in great frustration and I was living in a miserable state full of sadness, despair, and depression especially after ISIS entered my city and took away my uncle and killed him. However, through my engagement with WRO and their Peacebuilding Training and learning about the work of civil society, I wanted to engage more. Thus I would like to extend my thanks and respect to WRO, through which I was launched towards humanitarian work, and through which I learned what my role is and what is the meaning of coexistence and return to my country were I could see that from fingertips the strings of hope could be spun again.

SGBV PREVENTION AND RESPONSE

Provide integrated holistic services including MHPSS, medical, livelihood, case management, awareness, legal support and referral services for women, girls men and boys who have experienced or at risk of experiencing S/GBV. Combat violence with activities that combat harmful behaviors, attitudes, norms against women and girls.

LIVELIHOODS AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Provide economically empowering livelihood projects for all community members including the most vulnerable minority and marginalized groups and work towards women’s economic security, independence and the establishment of sustainable livelihoods.

LEGAL RIGHTS AND PATHWAYS TO JUSTICE

Identify legislation and/or legal gaps that are in opposition to human rights or do not afford necessary protection. Work with allies to build strategies to ensure the establishment and enforcement of a legal system that protects women, child, and minority rights and ensures their full participation in society.

REGIONAL AND GLOBAL ADVOCACY

Raise awareness on the necessity of women’s participation in the political process at all levels of government and advocate for the inclusion/ participation of women in decision making forums. CHILD PROTECTION

Provide recreational, informal education, psychosocial support services and child friendly spaces for displaced girls and boys in need of continued education. Assisting refugee and IDP children reclaim their rights to childhood and milestone child development.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH

To raise awareness on issues affecting health through training and educational materials. Establish static mobile health clinics to tend to health needs in more rural and under-serviced areas including provision of primary health care, psychiatry, psychology, psycho-social support (PSS), and psychological first aid (PFA).

WASH

Provide access to vital clean and sustainable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene materials and services to address the private and public health needs of affected populations, identify and address key risks of public health importance through information sharing campaigns, and ensure access to high quality and sensitized WASH facilities.

EDUCATION

Thorough provision and advocacy, ensure all children, girls and boys, and men and women have access to quality, equal primary and secondary education and advocating for higher learning for post secondary education and strengthening access for adult to learning methodologies in urban and rural areas.

CIVIL SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENTAL CAPACITY BUILDING

Working to building and share capacities of local populations, CSO’S, and governmental structures to meet the protection and multi-sector needs of their communities and ensure sustainable responses and provisions from responsive and inclusive ground up, local ownership based approaches.

PEACE BUILDING AND SOCIAL COHESION

Engage mediation, reconciliation, conflict resolution, and reintegration initiatives that break down ethnoreligious, tribal, displacement, age, status, and gender dividers and build community connectors through dialog, trainings, community based interventions for the benefit of the entire community affected.

LIFE-SAVING AID AND EMERGENCY RELIEF

Providing immediate front-line life-saving aid and relief items during natural crisis and armed conflict emergencies through front-line mobilize response teams including psychological first aid, WASH, shelter, food and non-food aid items.

STABILIZATION, RECOVERY, DURABLE SOLUTIONS

Provide comprehensive integrated durable solutions to bridge humanitarian to development support transitions to affected populations who remain in dire need for sustainable, context and gender sensitive, and inclusive dignified MHPSS, livelihood, WASH, Shelter, MHPSS, Protection and Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion support services.
