As a result of the recent conflict and internal displacement of hundreds of thousands to the Kurdistan region of Iraq, there is an increased risk of outbreaks of Cholera due to strains on housing, water supplies and sanitation. WRO and Harikar Organization, in partnership with UNFPA, conducted awareness-raising sessions in Shekhan Camp, Ninewa, on the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment of Cholera disease.
Without these crucial trainings, Cholera has the potential to cause large scale morbidity and mortality in this region.
