Timeline: April 2016 – January 2017

WRO will provide vocational training for 108 Syrian refugee and Yazidi IDP women residing in Dohuk non-camp locations. Women selected for the occupational training will have been crosschecked through the Inter-Agency Livelihood Database. The courses in tailoring and cosmetology are organized into four daily lessons from Sunday to Wednesday. The majority of the women have minimal experience in professional hairstyling or garment making; however, expressed keen interest in developing such skills in the hope of increasing their household income. The vocational trainers for the courses are women with years of experience working salons and bridal shops in Duhok and their expertise and professional standards of service that will greatly enrich the training. The women will also access psychosocial support at the center from WRO trained social worker providing solutions for issues such as GBV, documentation issues, medical referral and higher level mental health service provider referrals.

Project Outcomes/Achievements: Vocational training activities began with 108 Syrian and Yazidi registered women participating in sewing and hairdressing learning activities. Psychosocial support activities have also begun in providing community members with social counseling/advice and psychological support.
