Bahar’s Success Story
Men should support women for a variety of reasons, ranging from principles of equality and justice to the promotion of healthy relationships and societal progress. Supporting women by their male family members is crucial for various reasons, and it contributes significantly to individual well-being, family harmony, and societal progress. Families that actively support women contribute to the building of stronger, more resilient communities. The positive impact extends beyond the family unit, fostering a sense of community well-being and shared values.
Let us together read Bahar story,
My name is Bahar. I am 45 years old, married and have 5 children. I live in the TelKeif district. At the beginning of my marriage, my husband and I lived in my in my husband’s family’s house. Our financial situation was very bad and we were looking for work to support our small family. It came to my mind to start a small business project of my own that would help me support my family and reduce the burden on my husband’s shoulders. I told my husband of my idea that we would make a manual hatchery for hatching poultry eggs, as his friend does. My husband, in turn, welcomed the idea and agreed with me, and we started our small project from the small room in which we lived. In my husband’s family’s house, we did not have enough space, so we had to place the hatchery in that small room in which we live. Day after day we worked together to develop the project. I loved this work very much, and my husband supported me with great positivity and always motivated me and provided me with energy to continue. Then my husband did by making larger hatcheries through modifying refrigerators that did not work, he equipped them with a simple electrical system. We were happy with its large size, which accommodates a good number of eggs, but managing this hatchery was very difficult, as we were manually turning all the eggs in the hatchery every six hours while monitoring the temperature. This process was very difficult, to the point that some had developed diseases in the vertebrae, but through the profits of this simple and humble project we were able to build a small house for our family and we allocated the entire second floor of the house to this project. Here we have become in dire need of hatcheries of large size, production and automation because all the hatcheries that we have are manual work. We now have a fair number of manual hatcheries, but day after day managing these hatcheries was becoming increasingly difficult due to the physical effort required to manage them.
One day we heard about a project in our area called (IMDAD) implemented by WRO that supports small and medium enterprise owners through financial grants. Applications for SMEs were opened, and I actually went to WRO center in TelKeif to register for this project, my husband very much welcomed the idea of me registering for this grant. The project team visited us to inspect our existing project and our ideas for expanding it. This visit gave me hope, as I felt inside myself that my project would be approved.
After several days, WRO team called me and informed me that I had been accepted into the program.
My husband and I were very happy with this call, and I began attending the various training that the organization provided to us, as my husband accompanied me every day to take me to the center and supported me with positive words. We dreamed together about seeing our project that would grow up. My joy and happiness were complete when my expectations were met. I benefited a lot from the training that I participated in, and it provided me with a lot of information and developed my ideas. After receiving the financial grant, I implemented my ideas and fulfilled my dream of expanding the project. I purchased an automated hatchery that turns the eggs and determines and adjusts the temperature and humidity automatically which can host 2,400 eggs in one go, which will reduce effort and losses, increase production in large quantities, and contribute to developing our financial situation further.
Thanks to my husband, who was a great supporter to me from the beginning and believed in my abilities, and thanks to WRO, Malteser International, and the BMZ who fulfilled my hope through their support of my project.
I ask all men in our societies to support and help the women within their families to enjoy a better life and a more beautiful tomorrow.”>
