International Women’s Day 2023
On the celebration of International Women’s Day 2023, a group of women from Telkief, Ninewa, Iraq visited local community leaders with WROs team to give candle gifts they had made while sharing messages of advancing gender equality and showing themselves as bright example that woman can and have the right to do anything they desire. It was also an opportunity for the women to promote their newly established small enterprise businesses.
Under the BMZ and MI supported, program, WRO supported these incredible women in completing a comprehensive technical and business skills vocational training program and received microenterprise launch kits to support them in starting their own small business, to gain employment, or support them in continuing to develop their newly acquired skill sets. The integrated economic empowerment program aims to support women in strengthening purchasing power independency, self-determination, and positive self-resiliency.
Reflections on the Celebration:
We congratulate the women on this day. Women are not half of society, but rather the whole of society. She is the mother, sister, daughter, and wife. The goodness and success of society is part of the success of women, as they are the essence and basis of society. Also, you as working women are great and you are the best examples, because despite you doing your jobs you also face the conservative society, you encourage us and other women as well.
